September 8, 2020 – SOO Green recently announced the launch of its open solicitation (“OS”) to allocate transmission capacity rights. The SOO Green HVDC Link presents a unique opportunity for our transmission customers (“Shippers”) to purchase MISO renewable energy at low prices and then sell that energy to PJM renewable energy buyers at a premium price. The OS provides an innovative service that will match Shippers with renewable energy suppliers and buyers. We cordially invite you to an information session on September 9 at 2 p.m. Central time.

SOO Green is an innovative underground 2,100 MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line co-located along rail and transportation corridors that will connect the MISO and PJM markets. By using an existing rail right-of-way and going underground, the Project avoids environmental, visual, and landowner impacts that plague traditional overhead transmission projects. The rail-co-located model provides certainty on routing and siting, accelerating project development and execution schedule, and reducing risk associated with permitting and siting delays.

Our Open Solicitation process features a unique matching phase, wherein participants seeking long-term renewable energy supply and offtake opportunities will be matched with suppliers and buyers based on similar or compatible preferences (e.g. quantity, fuel-type, supply/generation shape). Once matched, buyers, suppliers, and shippers will have the opportunity to request an allocation of capacity from the SOO Green project, and advance commercial transactions made possible by the project.

Interested buyers may now register to participate through the OS website. Expressions of interest from Anchor Shippers and parties interested in the matching phase of the OS are due by October 16, 2020. To obtain more information about the process, click here.

We look forward to your participation in a first-of-its-kind opportunity to explore renewable energy opportunities made possible by the SOO Green HVDC Link.
